A car breakdown is a stressful situation anywhere. But in a foreign language — it's decidedly harder. That's why Sofia Automobile offers roadside assistance in Polish, for Poles and the Polish community living in or passing through Switzerland.

The language barrier isn't a problem at all — we understand your needs, know Swiss traffic rules, know how insurers work (Touring Club, TCS, ADAC) and can efficiently organise transport or on-site help.

We operate in Canton Aargau, Zurich, Basel and Solothurn. We also take on jobs in other parts of Switzerland — call and we'll sort out the details.

Types of roadside assistance

  • Towing (Abschleppen)

    Short distances — to a workshop, service station or parking spot. Used when a car can be safely towed on a rope (no automatic or 4x4).

  • Flatbed transport

    Long routes, cars with automatic gearboxes, 4x4 drive, accident vehicles. A safe platform without adding mileage.

  • Flat battery

    Help with a flat battery — on-site assessment, technical support and evacuation if needed.

  • Blocked wheel (Rad blockiert)

    If a wheel has locked up or the vehicle is stuck — we assess the situation and help evacuate the vehicle from the breakdown location.

What to do if you break down in Switzerland?

A breakdown on a Swiss road can be stressful, especially on the motorway. Here's what to do step by step, to stay safe and get help quickly.

Turn on hazard lights

Turn on your hazard lights (Warnblinker) immediately after stopping. This is the first and most important action — it warns other drivers.

Pull onto the verge

If possible, pull onto the hard shoulder (Pannenstreifen) or verge. On the motorway — as far as possible from the driving lanes. Never stay on the roadway.

Vest and triangle

Put on a high-visibility vest (mandatory in Switzerland!). Place the warning triangle: at least 50 m behind the car on a regular road, 100 m on the motorway.

Call us

What we do

Types of roadside assistance

Towing (short distance)

Short distances up to 20 km — to a workshop, petrol station or parking area. An economical solution when the car can be safely towed on a rope (manual gearbox, no 4x4). Great around a town or to a nearby service.

Flatbed transport

Long inter-cantonal routes, cars with automatic gearboxes and 4x4 drive (flatbed required!), accident vehicles, electrics and classics. The vehicle stands still on the platform — zero mileage, maximum safety for the drivetrain.

Quick on-site help

We'll come, assess the situation and provide first technical assistance. Problem diagnosis, securing the vehicle, contacting the insurer or workshop — we'll take care of all of it so you can stay calm.
