What is a flatbed?

Flatbed — not towing, but transport

A flatbed is a special transport trailer with a platform onto which your car is driven or winched. Throughout the whole route the vehicle stands still, secured with professional straps and mounts — it isn't started, doesn't drive itself, and doesn't add a single kilometre to the odometer.

This is an important difference compared to towing (Abschleppen), where the car is pulled on a rope or bar and has to move on its own wheels. Towing is only allowed over short distances and can be risky for the gearbox and braking system.

Flatbed transport is required or strongly recommended for: cars with automatic gearboxes, four-wheel drive vehicles (4x4/AWD), accident vehicles with a damaged chassis, classics and oldtimers, and electric cars — due to the risk associated with the high-voltage battery.

Flatbed vs. towing — why is a flatbed better?

When to use it

When do you need a flatbed?

Engine or gearbox failure

The car won't start or the gearbox isn't working properly? A classic case for a flatbed. Towing a damaged drivetrain risks costly repairs — flatbed transport is the only safe solution.

Road accident

After a collision the vehicle may be too damaged to drive itself. Our equipment allows us to load even heavily damaged cars — we'll arrive, secure and transport it to a workshop or designated location.

Buying a car from Germany, Poland or Austria

Bought a car abroad and want to bring it to Switzerland without adding mileage? We'll transport the vehicle safely from Germany (e.g. Lörrach, Freiburg), Poland or Austria — no stress, no mileage on the clock.

Classic or oldtimer transport

Vintage vehicles require exceptional care. Old seals, a sensitive chassis, no modern safety systems — all of this makes a flatbed the only appropriate way to transport a valuable classic.

Car for service (not drivable)

Do you need to get your car to a workshop but it isn't drivable? We'll transport it directly to the service address in Aargau, Zurich, Basel or another canton.

Special order (electric, moving)

Transporting an electric car requires special precautions and knowledge about high-voltage batteries. We also handle moves — when you want your car to arrive at its new location undamaged.
